We have come a long, long way as a club in the 2 years or so we have been together. From humble beginnings in Auckland we have grown to be a national (and international) social riding club with in excess of 450 members, some of whom even own a deodourant.

It’s fair to say that our expansion has been rapid but not surprising. I have heard so many positive comments about how the whole FBMC ‘thing’ promotes social and safe riding with friendly, likeminded people.

The wish to have a true ‘National’ identity crystallised in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch on 16^th September 2012 when the Fat Bikers MC hosted the incredibly successful Bikers In Blue ride. Ever since that great event the enquires about our membership, activities and basic outlook on life has grown and grown.

There has been suggestion from many quarters that maybe now would be the time to ‘formalise’ the FBMC, either as an official club, society or such like.

It’s fair to say that there may be some advantages in doing that but the bottom line is simple, The Fat Bikers MC will not go down that path, it’s a founding principle that committees, hierarchy, accounts and all that other stuff associated with clubs does not have a home with us, plain and simple.

However, our growth as a bunch of people is really on the up across the country and therefore it has been decided that the FBMC will have official regions with a central point of contact for each one.

These contacts, fondly known as ‘Pie Ministers’ will look after FBMC goings on in their region, organise rides, book venues, etc etc. This is a way of spreading the load across some FBMC folk who will be the local rep for their area.

So, who are these Pie Ministers….???…well, it gives me great pleasure to introduce to you these fine, upstanding and wobbly folk as follows:

Upper North Island – Catherine ‘Soapy Cat’ Merrick

Waikato – Mark ‘Caseye’ Casidy

Lower North Island – Brent ‘StoneY’ Hutchinson

Top of the South – Audrey ‘Ogri’ Rodkiss

Christchurch – Pete ‘Mainlander’ Scott

Each of these fine people will be saying gidday in their own style across our forum and Facebook pages so keep an eye out and give them the support to make the FBMC bigger and better.

The other exciting news is the establishment of a Vice Pastry Pres to help me out with the big, national type stuff. This includes such envious tasks as media liaison, Bikers In Blue event planning, helping out with the newsletter and basically forming and nurturing the relationships in biker land that will see us expand in places other than our waistlines.

I am delighted to announce that Cherie ‘MadDuck’ Scott has accepted this role within our club.

Cherie was there at the very start and shares our attitude of loving the ride, the feed and the company.

Please join me in a big “ah yeah, whatever” to these lovely people for stepping up and making sure the FBMC continues to be the club we all know and love……..

Fatt Max – Pastry Pres

This will be a chance to challenge yourself against your fellow FBMC members. There will be prizes and bragging rights for the winner so its all on.

The event is a surprise so all you need to know is the following:

Date – 14th July 2012

Where – McDonalds Quay Street

Time – 9.30am

What Else – Bring a camera and $5

After the main event we will head down to Muddy Waters for a feed and a social.

So, get your flabbies there people, this will be a cracker and no mistake

So, meet at De Fonteon in Mission Bay at 6.30pm for great food and a heap of ale. After all, it is Christmas……

The route information will follow but to begin with it is a 9.30am meet at Shell Westgate (9.00am if you fancy a Burger King Breakfast).

Head off at 10am, woo hoo

Once again it will be a nice ride and a social get together enjoying the excellent grub that the Cider Shed is renowned for.

A ride to the deep south, finishing up at the Muddy Waters for the compulsory FB feed and do nothing much.

Meet at 09:30 at the BP Solar on the Southern Motorway before Drury, for a 10:00 departure. From the BP the ride should be roughly 180km give or take, so you may want to gas up at the BP before we leave

We’ll head toward Drury, out to Mangitawhiri, through the Maramarua forest, down a bit further and around a bit into Rangiriri then up through Meremere into Mercer where the fatties will ascend upon the Muddy Waters Irish Pub.

We will have a designated ride leader and TEC, and will have a quick ride briefing before departure to sort out any regroup areas.

Would like to try and encourage when on a group ride, please if you can’t see the rider behind you, slow down a little until you can spot them in the distance. If we are turning off or turning at an intersection, please pull over when/where it is safe to do so and wait for those behind. It will eventually filter through to the front and the ride leader will slow down/stop and we will ultimately be regrouped on the fly.

Blimey tonight, its all on for the FBMC 2^nd birthday bash and fundraiser, this time in sunny Nelson on Sunday 10^th February 2013. It’s’ bound to be a right royal cream cracker of an event and everyone is invited.

Once again  it’s a chance for the FBMC to get together along with any other bikers who wish to join in. All are welcome, all you need to bring is a fun attitude and a sense of humour.

There will be a few of these updates as the year ticks along but the basics of the event are now available.

So, sort out your best undies, pick the clag out of your toes and pack your toothbrush, its Nelson here we come….

Yes indeed folks, the FBMC are getting together for our 2nd Blue September run.

Join us for a day out to raise awareness as part of the Prostate Cancer Foundation Blue September Appeal for 2012

The theme is ‘Bikers In Blue’, dress up yourselves and your rides big bold and blue for the day

Social get together, show and shine, raffles and all that kind of stuff

Rides organised for Auckland ,Wellington and Christchurch

Come along and support this worthy cause……and its an excuse to get out on the road (not like we really need one though eh

Auckland Ride

Time: 9.30am

Meet at the venue for a social, show and shine and general get together. We will be rolling at 10.30am to our final destination  at PlaceMakersAlbany.

Coffee will be available at the start and there will be a raffle with some great ride gear and other stuff

1130-1200 – arrive Little River
1215-2pm fundraising activites – prizes for:
- bluest bike
- best costume

300pm finish – riders make their own way home.

Meeting Point: The Duckpond, Avalon

Meeting Time: 9.00am

Rolling Time: 10.00am

A meet and greet for all riders, a chance for a wag of the multiple chins, then its off we jolly well ride to Martinborough. Donations will be collected to support the Blue September Prostate Cancer Appeal. Get along and support this national event hosted by the very cuddly Fat Bikers Motorcycle Club.
